Jacob Bell ‘03 played 39 games along the offensive line for the RedHawks from 2000-03, recording 38 starts. His senior year he started 14 games at right guard, earning first-team All-MAC honors, helping Miami secure a 13-1 record, including a MAC Championship and GMAC Bowl victory. That season, Miami established school records in points scored (553), total yards (7,016) and rushing touchdowns (34). Bell did not give up a sack during his senior campaign which paved the way for one of the most potent offenses in Miami history and one of the top-five ranked offenses nationally in 2003. Following his senior season, he participated in the Senior Bowl. Bell was drafted by the Tennessee Titans in the fifth round of the 2004 NFL Draft. Bell was named to the All-Rookie Team by ESPN.com after starting 14 games at guard for the Titans. Bell later signed with the St. Louis Rams and played 109 games (100 starts) in the NFL before retiring in 2012.
Don Crain ’70 was a three-year starter and letterwinner for the Miami baseball team. The speedy infielder held the single-season record for stolen bases and runs scored upon his graduation in 1970. Since graduation, Don has dedicated himself to growing and improving both the Athletic Department, as well as Miami University as a whole. Crain, the 2018 John E. Dolibois Award winner for his service to the university, was a member of the Miami Board of Trustees from 2006-15, with two years as vice chair and two years as chair. He also served as member and president of the Red & White Club Board and as a member of the Miami Middletown Citizens Advisory Council for 22 years. He has taught classes in the Farmer School of Business and founded and is active with the Miami Baseball Alumni Association and Board. Twice, Crain earned the Don Loss Volunteer of the Year Award. He and his wife, Susan '73, were active supporters of the Graduating Champions campaign, which Don initiated while on the Board of Trustees. This fundraising campaign raised more than $82 million to advance Miami Athletics. The Crains endowed the Donald and Susan Crain Baseball Scholarship as their contribution to the campaign..
Andy Greene ‘17 was a key piece of putting the RedHawks on the map from a national perspective. Individually, Greene finished his career with 114 points on 27 goals and 87 assists, earning All-American honors in 2005 and 2006. His goal and point totals rank fourth most among defensemen in school history. He also captured Offensive Defenseman of the Year from the Central Collegiate Hockey Association in his final two seasons while also earning CCHA Defensive Defenseman of the Year honors in 2006. He helped Miami qualify for the NCAA Tournament in 2004 and 2006, helping the Red & White win a CCHA regular season title in the 2005-06 campaign, a team that became the first Miami sport in school history to achieve a No. 1 ranking in the national polls. Since graduating, Greene has played 870 NHL games for the New Jersey Devils, where he serves as team captain. He's helped the Devils qualify for the playoffs six times, including a trip to the Stanley Cup Finals in 2012.
Stacey Mack ‘90 was a four-year letterwinner for the tennis program from 1987-90, helping Miami to three-straight MAC Championships (1987, 1988 and 1989). Mack was a five-time MAC Individual Champion, earning singles titles in 1990 and 1988 and doubles titles in 1988, 1989 and 1990, with the last two coming at No. 1 doubles. Overall, Mack compiled a 67-39 singles record and a 65-18 doubles record. She earned first-team All-MAC honors her senior year, recording an 18-13 singles and 22-9 doubles record, while also serving as co-captain. She added a 17-13 singles and 14-5 doubles record as a junior, while posting a 21-6 singles and 23-5 doubles record as a sophomore.
Emeka Moneme ‘93 finished his career with 33 goals (second all-time) and 82 points (third). Moneme led Miami in scoring with 13 goals in 1992 and his 1993 senior total of 28 points topped the Red & White. He earned First-Team All-MAC recognition in 1992 and was a two-time all-region selection by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. He also earned All-Ohio honors in 1992 and 1993. While donning the uniform, Moneme helped Miami post 12 victories in each of his final three seasons. He also played professionally in the National Premier Soccer League for two seasons with the Milwaukee Wave and Columbus Invaders, tallying 40 goals in 79 games. He helped the Wave capture the NPSL title with seven goals in 11 postseason contests in the 1997-98 campaign.
Jim Muething ‘85 was a two-time men's golf first-team All-MAC selection in 1984 and 1985. A three-time letterwinner, he won the MAC Individual Championship in 1984. He shot rounds of 70-72-74-68 to take the tournament championship in Ravenna, Ohio by two shots over fellow teammate Mark Brewer. Muething followed that up by capturing the Cincinnati Met and the Ohio Amateur within weeks of each other in 1984. He was honored for his strong academics after his senior season, becoming the first Miami golfer to be named a Scholar All-American by the Golf Coaches Association of America. Muething went on to serve as a head pro at Merion Golf Club for several years.
Halle Popson ‘08 led Miami to its first MAC Tournament Championship in program history as a freshman in 2005, beginning an impressive four-year RedHawk career with a MAC All-Tournament selection. Popson was a two-time all-conference selection, being named to the first team as a junior in 2007 and the second team as a senior in 2008. She also won the Leann Davidge Memorial Award and was named Academic All-MAC as a senior. Popson remains the career leader in batting average (.351), at-bats (697), runs (138) and hits (245). She is now fifth in career walks (81) after graduating as the career leader in walks. Popson is also third in career stolen bases (44). The former RedHawk infielder holds seven places in the program's single-season records. She has the two-most single-season at-bat totals (204 in 2007 and 198 in 2005) and was first in runs (45 in 2008) and hits (79 in 2007) when she concluded her Miami career, but now ranks second in both of those categories. Popson had the second-most walks (30 in 2008) in a single season in program history and now ranks sixth. She is tied for second in stolen bases (18 in 2008) and sixth in batting average (.387 in 2007).
Jeff Ward ’82, the top pole vaulter in Miami history, recorded a top clearance of 18-2 ½, which is over eight inches higher than the next closest on the school's top-10 list. Ward captured three Mid-American Conference titles, winning the pole vault in both 1981 and 1982 and adding a decathlon title in 1982. The 1982 season also saw Ward excel at the national stage as he placed fifth in the pole vault at the NCAA Outdoor Championships to become an All-American. He was tabbed Miami Male Athlete of the Year in 1982. Academically, Ward earned an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship. Ward helped Miami capture MAC team titles in 1979 and 1981 while placing runner-up in 1980 and 1982. He was a four-time NCAA qualifier and was a two-time Olympic Trials qualifier. He was an attending alternate for the 1983 World Championships, and earned the bronze medal at the 1983 World University Games.
