
Scalia, Sohosky Named Miami Athletes of the Week

For their performances last week, Amber Scalia and Zac Sohosky are Miami's Athletes of the Week, presented by Skyline Chili for the week of March 16.

Female Winner: Amber Scalia
Scalia was named the Mid-American Conference Tournament MVP after averaging 16.7 points, 1.3 rebounds and 1.0 assist over the three-game weekend. She shot 52.9% from the floor and made 7-of-14 three pointers, helping Miami Women's Basketball to its second-ever trip to the NCAA Tournament. She opened the week with 14 points against Kent State and added 22 points (made five triples) in a semi-final win over Ohio. In the championship game, Scalia scored 14 points and added four steals against Toledo. A senior guard from Stillwater, Minn., she is studying Kinesiology in the College of Education, Health and Society.

Male Winner: Zac Sohosky
Sohosky saw seven full innings of work against Bowling Green Friday, claiming his first win of the season after holding the Falcons scoreless through all seven. The senior from Bentonville, Ark. allowed just two singles and one walk to the 24 batters he faced, striking out 10 of them. His dominant pitching led Miami Baseball to a game one victory en route to their 12th consecutive conference series win. Sohosky is majoring in Liberal Studies in Miami's College of Liberal Arts and Applied Science.
