Men's Swim and Dive Finishes First at Day One of MVC Championships

EVANSVILLE, Ind. — The Miami University men's swimming and diving team began the 2026 Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) Championship today and currently hold first place after scoring 490 points. Missouri State sits at second (420.5 points), Southern Illinois is third (326 points), University of Illinois Chicago holds fourth (294 points), Ball State is fifth (268.5 points), UMass is sixth (251 points), Evansville is seventh (124 points) and Valparaiso is eighth (99 points) after day one at Deaconess Aquatic Center.

UP NEXT: The RedHawks men's swimming and diving team will return to Deaconess Aquatic Center for day two of the MVC Championship. The preliminaries start at 11:30 a.m. and the finals begin at 6:30 p.m.
How it Happened:
- The meet kicked off with the 200 free relay where the men set a program and meet record. Owen Hoban, Ian Rodrigues-Kmiliauskis, Duncan Salmen and Tegan Barrier earned first place with a time of 1:18.43.
- Elijah Rolfsen claimed third (4:22.12) and Luke Pugh finished eighth (4:31.32) to lead the RedHawks in the 500 yard free.
- In the 200 IM, Allen Cotton secured second (1:44.89), Hoban followed just behind in third (1:46.10) and Drew Watson earned seventh (1:48.23) to secure the strongest finishes for Miami.
- Barrier set the tone for Miami with a first-place finish (19.70) in the 50 free, as Salmen took third (19.87) and Kmiliauskis tied for fifth (19.99) to earn top-eight finishes.
- After that was the 1M dive, where Paul Hong placed fifth, tallying a score of 293.35. Tuck Gregory also competed in this event, as he earned ninth with 303.70 points.
- The 400-yard medley relay was next, where the men team took home first and set another program record. Jensen Nelson, Brady Miller, Salmen and Barrier posted a time of 3:08.58.
