
Swim and Dive Fall to Northwestern

EVANSTON, Ill. — The Miami University swimming and diving team hit the road to start the 2026- 2027 season at Northwestern University on Saturday Oct. 3, 2026. The RedHawks women fell to Northwestern 230-87. The men were also bested by Northwestern 187-130.

UP NEXT: The RedHawk swim and dive team will head home to take on the University of Cincinnati on Friday, Oct. 16. Events will begin at 2:00 P.M.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The RedHawks' first meet of the 2026-2027 season kicked off with the women's 200-yard medley. The RedHawk A team finished second as Chrisna Bezuidenhout, Natalie Gilson, Ella Ziegert and Kaylin Herbet turned in a combined time of 1:41.36.
- The men's 200-yard medley followed and the Miami A team finished second as well. Jensen Nelson, Pablo Silva, Duncan Salmen and Tegan Barrier posted a combined time of 1:27.67.
- Gracie Gregory finished first in the women's 800-yard freestyle, earning a time of 8:00.33. Casey Stephens finished fourth with a time of 8:12.22.
- The men's 800-yard freestyle was next, where Elijah Rolfsen was first, turning in a time of 7:19.11. Hendrik Bechtel was third with a time of 7:27.32.
- After that came the women's 200-yard freestyle, where Herbet finished fifth, recording a time of 1:50.40.
- Next came the men's 200-yard freestyle. Ian Rodrigues-Kmiliauskis came in second with a time of 1:38.66. Brady Stenson followed in third with Bryce Menchhofer in fourth, earning times of 1:38.82 and 1:39.08 respectively.
- The women's 100-yard backstroke was next, where Bezuidenhout took fourth after putting up a time of 55.13.
- Nelson finished second in the men's 100-yard backstroke, turning in a time of 47.39.
- After that was the women's 100-yard breaststroke. Natalie Gilson came in second, earning a time of 1:01.93.
- The men's 100-yard breaststroke followed, where Ian Wihebrink posted a time of 55.71, good for fourth-place.
- The women's 200-yard butterfly was next, where Elizabeth Gregory finished fourth after putting up a time of 2:04.81. Allie Casanovas took fifth with a time of 2:05.80.
- Owen Hoban finished first in the men's 200-yard butterfly, earning a time of 1:46.44. William Pugh finished third with a time of 1:48.60.
- The women's 200-yard freestyle relay was next, where the RedHawk A team finished third. Herbet, Ziegert, Gilson and Alyssa Uhlman turned in a combined time of 1:33.45.
- The men's 200-yard freestyle was after that. The RedHawk A team finished second. Barrier, Nelson, Owen Fowler and Menchhofer posted a combined time of 1:22.30.
- Up next was the women's 100-yard freestyle, where Herbet finished third in the women's 100-yard freestyle with a time of 50.67.
- Rodrigues-Kmiliauskis was second in the men's 100-yard freestyle, putting up a time of 44.66. Barrier was third, earning a time of 45.60.
- The women's 200-yard backstroke followed, where Bezuidenhout finished first after posting a time of 1:57.40
- The men's 200-yard backstroke followed, where Nelson was third, turning in a time of 1:48.55. Joel Silver was after that in fourth with a time of 1:48.84.
- After that was the women's 200-yard breaststroke, where Gilson finished in second with a time of 2:15.17. Kenadie Glasgow was fourth, earning a time of 2:25.84.
- Hoban finished first in the men's 200-yard breaststroke, posting a time of 2:00.23.
- The women's 500-yard freestyle was next, where Gracie Gregory finished second, turning in a time of 4:56.03.
- The men's 500-yard freestyle followed, where Pugh finished first with a time of 4:29.45. Rolfsen was second, earning a time of 4:29.52.
- Next was the women's 100-yard butterfly. Elizabeth Gregory was fifth, posting a time of 56.35.
- Salmen finished second in the men's 100-yard butterfly, earning a time of 48.11.
- The women's 100-yard IM was next, where Herbet finished first, posting a time of 55.92.
- Hoban finished first in the men's 100-yard IM with a time of 49.84.
- The women's 400-yard freestyle relay was next, where the RedHawk A team finished third. Ziegert, Bezuidenhout, Gregory and Gilson turned in a combined time of 3:27.92.
- Swimming events concluded with the men's 400-yard freestyle relay, where the men's RedHawk A team finished second. Rodrigues-Kmiliauskis, Salmen, Fowler and Barrier posted a combined time of 2:57.50.
- For diving events, Alessia Cappelli earned a fourth-place finish in the women's 1M dive with a score of 228.55
- The men's 1M dive was next where Noam Kulbak posted a score of 290.30, which was good for third-place.
- Gretchen Osmun earned a third-place finish in the women's 3M dive with a score of 242.50. Avery Potrzebowski scored 241.05 which was good for fourth.
- Paul Hong was third in the men's 3M dive, scoring 333.90. Kulbak was fourth with a score of 310.20.
