
Coyne, Podobinski Named Miami Athletes of the Week

For their performances last week, Lauren Coyne and Brett Podobinski are Miami's Athletes of the Week, presented by Skyline Chili for the week of Sept. 15.

Female Winner: Lauren Coyne
Lauren Coyne was named the Miami/Best Western Invitational MVP after recording 3.62 points per set and 3.00 kills per set to lead the RedHawks to a tournament championship. The freshman opposite hitter totaled 39 kills and added a service ace over 13 sets against Middle Tennessee, Southern Indiana, and Duquesne. In Miami's two wins against the Blue Raiders and Dukes, Coyne posted 38 points (4.22 points/set) and 32 kills (3.56 kills/set) with a .293 hitting percentage. A freshman from Wheaton, Ill., she is studying Marketing in the Farmer School of Business.

Male Winner: Brett Podobinski
Brett Podobinski tied for fifth place in a field of 84 golfers at last week's Gopher Invitational. Podobinski shot a 67 in the second round and added five birdies in the final round to produce a score of 210 for the tournament. He finished the event with a score of three under par to help the RedHawks take sixth place in a 15-team tournament. A senior from Dublin, Ohio, he is studying Supply Chain and Operations Management in the Farmer School of Business.
