RedHawks Set to Host Miami/Best Western Invitational

BEST WESTERN INVITATIONAL: The Red and White return home to host the Best Western Invitational this weekend, Sept. 12-13. Miami will begin the tournament against Middle Tennessee at 10:30 a.m. on Friday and then face off with Southern Indiana later that day at 7:30 p.m. The RedHawks close out the tournament with a Saturday afternoon match versus Duquesne at 3 p.m.Â
ABOUT MIDDLE TENNESSEE: Middle Tennessee is coming off a season in which it posted a 13-18 mark and went 9-9 in Conference USA. The Blue Raiders are currently 4-2, as their only losses are from Butler and Mississippi State. Middle Tennessee was picked to finish 10th in the 2025 Conference USA Preseason Volleyball Poll. The Blue Raiders lead the all-time series 3-0. The RedHawks and Blue Raiders last faced off on Sept. 3, 2022, as Miami fell 0-3 (13-25, 21-25, 10-25) at the Best Western Invitational.
ABOUT SOUTHERN INDIANA: Southern Indiana totaled an 8-22 record and went 3-15 in the Ohio Valley Conference last season. The Screaming Eagles are currently 1-6, as their only victory came against Northern Kentucky, which the RedHawks will face after this weekend. Southern Indiana was selected to finish tenth (along with Tennessee State) in the 2025 Ohio Valley Conference Preseason Volleyball Poll. Junior outside hitter Ashby Willis was named to the 2025 OVC Watch List. Miami has the advantage in the all-time series, 1-0. The RedHawks and Screaming Eagles last squared off on Sept. 9, 2022, as Miami won 3-0 (25-20, 25-19, 25-21) at the Chattanooga Invitational.Â
ABOUT DUQUESNE: Duquesne went 13-17 and held a 4-14 record in the Atlantic 10 Conference in 2024. The Dukes are currently 6-0 after going undefeated at the YSU Invitational and Chick-fil-A Robinson Classic. Duquesne was chosen to finish seventh in the 2025 Atlantic 10 Preseason Volleyball Poll. The Dukes return sophomore outside hitter Emersen Schrom, who was named to the 2024 A10 All-Rookie Team, and senior middle blocker Ariel Helm, who was named to the 2024 A10 All-Conference Second Team. The Red and White are 1-0 when taking on the Dukes. The last time Miami and Duquesne competed was on Sept. 9, 2022, as Miami secured a 3-2 victory (25-13, 24-26, 15-25, 25-12, 15-12) at the Chattanooga Invitational.Â

WARRICK WATCH: Gentry Warrick currently ranks eighth all-time in Miami history with 0.97 career blocks per set. She holds a total of 67 career solo blocks (sixth all-time in Miami history). Warrick also ranks fourth in the nation in total blocks (41) and seventh in blocks per set (1.71).
FRESHMEN IMPACT: Freshmen Molly Creech, Lauren Coyne, Grace Kreutz and Lindy Radaszewski have seen significant action at the start of the 2025 season. As a starter, Creech has recorded 2.50 kills per set (second on the team), 0.21 service aces per set (second on the team), and 2.82 digs per set (second on the team). Coyne has put down 1.88 kills per set (fourth on the team) and 0.69 blocks per set (third on the team). Radaszewski has made a strong impact on the service line, as she leads the team with 0.22 service aces per set. Kreutz made her debut as a RedHawk last week, and she is now averaging 0.93 kills per set (eighth on the team) and 1.36 digs per set (fifth on the team).
STRONG RETURNS: Of its 15-player roster, the Red and White return nine players from the 2024 season. Seniors Ellie Hanson, Hayden Hicks, Emily Morgan and Gentry Warrick anchor a solid veteran group. They are joined by juniors Raegan Lantz, Anna McClure (redshirt) and Chelsea Williams. The sophomore class includes Sophie Crawford and Lydia Michelin.Â
FRESH ON THE SCENE: Six newcomers will be joining the Miami roster as well. The RedHawks welcome four freshmen this season which includes Lauren Coyne, Molly Creech, Grace Kreutz and Lindy Radaszewski. Miami also brings on senior Lindsay Kahren (transfer from William and Mary) and sophomore Kamryn Utley (transfer from Lehigh).

EUROPEAN TRIP: This summer the RedHawks had the opportunity to go on a European tour (from late May into early June), visiting Milan, Bologna and Venice in Italy before traveling to Athens and Nafplio in Greece. The Miami group (including players, coaches and staff) enjoyed plenty of opportunities for sightseeing and sampling the local cuisine, while the Red and White also got to play four competitive matches against local professional teams.
