Suszek, Appelwick Named Miami Athletes of Week

For their performances last week, Abby Suszek and Evan Appelwick are Miami's Athletes of the Week, presented by Skyline Chili for the week of May 19.
Female Winner: Abby Suszek
Male Winner: Evan Appelwick
Evan Appelwick hit .538 this week for Miami Baseball, collecting seven hits and 10 RBIs over three games against Ball State. He also walked three times and came around to score five times. Appelwick hit three home runs, including two home runs in game two against the Cardinals. In game three, he had four hits and three runs and batted in five of the RedHawks' 26 runs. He also had a three-run home run in the eighth. His offensive dominance allowed Miami to earn a share of the conference title, clinch the top seed in the Mid-American Conference tournament and finish off a season that saw the Red and White win every single series in MAC play. Appelwick is a redshirt junior Finance major in the Farmer School of Business from Madison, S.D.
Female Winner: Abby Suszek
Abby Suszek took home the gold in the 400-meter dash at the MAC Outdoor Championships this weekend. Her first-place finish in the 400 came with a time of 53.34. Suszek also grabbed bronze in the women's 200-meter dash with a time of 23.58, good for second in program history. Suszek, a senior from Mentor, Ohio, is a Psychology/Strategic Communication major in the College of Arts and Science.
