
Chevrier, Appelwick Named Miami Athletes of the Week

For their performances last week, Léa Chevrier and Evan Appelwick are Miami's Athletes of the Week, presented by Skyline Chili for the week of May 12.

Female Winner: Léa Chevrier
Léa Chevrier went 2-0 last week at the Mid-American Conference Tournament to help Miami Softball to its fourth consecutive tournament title. Chevrier also produced her first collegiate no-hitter in Miami's 8-0 win in an elimination game against Ball State. In her three appearances, including two complete games, the junior from St-Lazare, Quebec had a 0.50 ERA, two shutouts, one save, and six strikeouts. Chevrier, an All-Tournament Team selection, allowed just seven hits, one run, and three walks and only yielded one extra-base hit all weekend. Chevrier is studying Sport Management in the College of Education, Health and Society.

Male Winner: Evan Appelwick
Evan Appelwick helped Miami Baseball to a 4-0 week, which included a sweep over Akron to set a program record for most conference wins in a season. Appelwick had seven hits on 14 at-bats and batted in eight runs. He had four RBIs on Friday, including a two-run homer, and four more RBIs on Saturday (including opening the scoring with a home run on an 11-pitch at-bat). Appelwick is a redshirt junior Finance major in the Farmer School of Business from Madison, S.D.
