For their performances last week, Ella Rigel and Cameron Pero are Miami's Athletes of the Week, presented by Skyline Chili for the week of March 31.

Female Winner: Ella Rigel
Ella Rigel led the Miami women on the field at last week's Raleigh Relays, as she finished in third place in the women's hammer throw with a new PR and school record of 62.03 meters. With this performance, Rigel beat her previous PR by nearly two meters, and she is now an entire meter ahead of previous record-holder Martha Szekely (61.00 meters in 2017). Rigel remains in first place in the MAC for the hammer throw, but she increased the distance from second place to more than two meters. Rigel also moved up to 22nd overall out of all Division I athletes for the event. Rigel, a senior from Leipsic, Ohio, is studying Kinesiology in the College of Education, Health and Society.

Male Winner: Cameron Pero
Cameron Pero went 3-0 in match play to help Miami Golf to a co-championship at last week's Sweetens Cove Intercollegiate. Pero defeated Belmont's Grant Clark 5&4 in the first round, including a run of four birdies in six holes. The next day, he topped Murray State's Rocco Zakutney 7&5, posting five birdies in the first 10 holes and putting the match out of reach by hole 13. On the final day of competition, Pero carded seven birdies against Seton Hall's Will Hennessee, including one on hole 17 to seal a 2&1 win. The RedHawks shared the team trophy with Seton Hall after both squads were even on all three tiebreakers at the end of play Wednesday. Pero, a junior from Bloomfield, Ontario, is a Finance major in the Farmer School of Business.
