CLEVELAND, Ohio – As part of a five-member class, Miami's Carolyn Condit will be inducted into the Mid-American Conference Hall of Fame, the league office announced on Friday afternoon. Condit is joined by Ben Braun (Eastern Michigan -- Men's Basketball Head Coach), Jenny Gilbert (Ball State -- Softball), Marny Oestreng (Bowling Green -- Gymnastics) and Jake Percival (Ohio -- Wrestling).
Throughout her legendary coaching career, Condit amassed a 682-554 record at Miami and also recorded 781 wins throughout her time as a head coach. Condit compiled more career wins than any coach in any sport in the history of Miami Athletics. At the end of the 2023 season, Condit's win total ranked fifth among active NCAA Division I coaches, and tied for 22nd all-time.
Condit's teams captured nine regular-season MAC championships and made 13 postseason tournament appearances, including advancing to the NCAA Tournament in 1990, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 2007, 2008, 2017 and 2018. Her program won five MAC Tournament titles and made 12 MAC Tournament title appearances. Condit was named MAC Coach of the Year six times. She is the only volleyball coach in the history of the Mid-American Conference to win more than 300 league matches, holding a conference mark of 376-264. Condit coached her players to five MAC Player of the Year trophies, 83 All-MAC awards, 27 Academic All-District awards, 128 Academic All-MAC awards and six CoSIDA/CSC Academic All-America recognitions.
Eight of her players (out of 13 volleyball players all-time) have earned induction into the Miami Athletic Hall of Fame. Her program also collected 15 AVCA Team Academic Awards during her tenure. Condit was named the recipient of the 2024 Trailblazer Award, an annual award that honors a MAC individual in any position who has demonstrated support of equal opportunities and the student-athlete experience.
The 2025 Honors Dinner & Hall of Fame celebration will take place on Thursday, May 29 at the Marriott Key Tower in Cleveland, Ohio. Ticket information for the 2025 MAC honors dinner and Hall of Fame celebration will be announced at a later date.
