RedHawks Prep for MAC Championships with In-State Meets

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio/ FINDLAY, Ohio-- The Miami indoor teams traveled to the University of Findlay and Wittenberg University this weekend to compete in their last meets of the indoor regular season. Four different Miami student-athletes brought home first-place finishes between the two meets this weekend, including Ella Rigel, who set a new school record in the weight throw (19.43 meters).

The RedHawks will travel to Ypsilanti, Mich., next weekend to compete in the Indoor MAC Championships (February 28-March 1)

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- In the women's 400-meter dash, Abby Suszek finished in first place with a time of 53.35 seconds. Rachel Smith (57.73 seconds) and Keena Sanders (58.60 seconds) also ran in the 400-meter dash, and they finished in fourth and sixth place, respectively. In the women's 800-meter run, Eve Traficanti finished in first place with a new PR of 2:12.32. Traficanti beat her previous record by six tenths of a second and she is now 10th in RedHawk history for the women's 800-meter run. Avery Emerson (2:15.01) and Gretchen Feldkamp (2:20.63) also ran in the 800-meter race and they finished in second and fourth place, respectively. Ella Scally finished in first place in the women's 200-meter dash with a time of 24.52 seconds. In the women's 60-meter dash prelims, Keira McGregor (7.68 seconds) and Riley Betz (7.69 seconds) qualified for the finals by finishing in third and fourth place. In the finals, McGregor finished in third place with a personal-best time of 7.64 seconds. Betz finished in fourth place in the finals with the same time of 7.69 seconds.
- On the field for the women, Ella Rigel finished in first place in the women's weight throw event with a PR of 19.43 meters. Rigel beat her PR that she set last year in the same meet by 0.6 meters. This distance also moves Rigel into first place all-time in RedHawk indoor history for the women's weight throw. In the women's long jump event, Scally finished in first place with 6.25 meters. Elle Miller (5.48 meters) and Chloe Rickson (5.47 meters) also competed in the long jump event and finished in second and third, respectively. Miller also finished in second place in the women's high jump with 1.67 meters. Santornya Ralliford finished in fourth place in the women's shot put event with 12.87 meters. Abbi Deisch finished in second place in the women's high jump event with 1.63 meters. Ella Garvin (1.63 meters) and Maddie Sisler (1.53 meters) also competed in the high jump event and finished in fourth and sixth place, respectively. In the women's pole vault event, Emily Eterovich finished in fourth place with 3.58 meters. Grace Hicks also competed in the pole vault event, and she finished in eighth place with 3.43 meters.
- In the women's mile run, Linda Conchetto finished in second place with a time of 5:02.32. Cara Naas also ran in the women's mile, and she finished in seventh place with a time of 5:09.79.
- On the field for the men, Ben Riegel finished in sixth place in the men's shot put event with 15.87 meters. In the men's weight throw event, Owen Billeter (16.92 meters) and Gabe Asbury (16.62 meters) finished in eighth and 10th place, respectively.
