Fernandez Named MAC Field Hockey Defensive Player of the Week

CLEVELAND, Ohio– Miami's Julia Fernandez was named the MAC Field Hockey Defensive Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 29.
Julia organized a defense that held opponents to two goals in 122 total minutes of play against two ranked teams. Fernandez started the week with a shutout against #17 Appalachian State, a team that had averaged over four goals a game, holding them to eight total shots with only six on goal and three penalty corners. Against #7 Wake Forest, Fernandez and the rest of the defense held the Demon Deacons to six shots on goal and only five penalty corners.
Fernandez and the RedHawks will return to action this Friday Oct. 10 on the road against the #19 James Madison Dukes at 2 p.m.
