COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.-- The National Collegiate Hockey Conference announced its Players of the Week today, and Miami sophomore winger Ryan Smith was named Forward of the Week after the RedHawks' road sweep of Lindenwood by identical 5-4 scores.
Smith netted his first goal as a RedHawk Friday night and then exploded for a four-point outing and hat trick on Saturday, capping his monster weekend with the game-winner in overtime. Smith played a role in four of Miami's five goals in the series finale and was credited with a career-high eight shots on goal as Miami won back-to-back games in overtime for the first time in program history. His hat trick was the first by a Miami player since 2022 and Smith became the first RedHawk in two years to produce a four-point game.
Miami is back in action this weekend with a home series against Arizona State to begin conference play. Puck drop on Friday, Oct. 31 is set for 7:05 p.m.
