AKRON, Ohio – The Miami University football team downed Akron 20-7 on Saturday afternoon for its third-straight victory. Dequan Finn threw for 203 yards and added 65 on the ground for the RedHawks (3-3, 2-0 MAC), while Miami's defense forced one turnover, registered 3.0 sacks and held the Zips (2-5, 1-2 MAC) to 273 yards of total offense.
How it Happened:
- On the opening drive of the contest, Akron drove down to the Miami 4-yard line before Adam Trick recorded the second interception of his career to halt the Zips scoring chance.
- With three minutes left in the first half, Finn found Deion Colzie for a 33-yard completion along the left sideline, down to the Akron 22. Four plays later, senior Dom Dzioban knocked in a 41-yard field goal to give the RedHawks a 3-0 lead at the half.
- Miami marched nine plays for 75 yards, capped by a 1-yard touchdown run from D'Shawntae Jones to make it 10-0 early in the third quarter. Finn was a perfect 4-for-4 for 51 yards (highlighted by a 20-yard grab from Brian Shane) and added a 14-yard rush on the drive.
- After Miami's defense forced a three-and-out, Finn found Kam Perry streaking down the left side for a 60-yard touchdown. The RedHawks extended their lead, 17-0 midway through the third quarter.
- The RedHawks put the finishing touches on the contest, stuffing the Zips on a fourth-and-one at the Akron 30-yard line early in the fourth quarter. Four plays later, Dzioban's 46-yard field goal made it 20-0 with 11:35 left in the game.
- Akron's lone touchdown came with 6:56 left in the game.
Martin Moving Up
The win over Akron moved head coach Chuck Martin into a tie for fifth in MAC history with 53 career conference wins. A win next week over Eastern Michigan would tie Bob Pruett (Marshall) with 54 MAC wins.

Keith Reynolds posted a career-high seven catches versus Akron. It's the third time in his Miami career recording at least five catches in a game.
"Jones"ing For a Touchdown

Putting the Zip in Zips
