
Maier, Zaborowski Named Miami Athletes of Week

For their performances last week, Nicole Maier and Ryland Zaborowski are Miami's Athletes of the Week, presented by Skyline Chili for the week of March 4.

Female Winner: Nicole Maier
Nicole Maier was named the Most Outstanding Senior and earned First-Team All-MAC recognition at the MAC Women's Swimming and Diving Championships last week. Maier won three individual events at the meet, claiming first place in the 500 freestyle, the 100 freestyle and the 400 IM. She posted NCAA B cut times in the 400 IM (4:09.38) and the 100 free (47.77). Maier was part of a first-place finish in the 800 freestyle relay, shattering the MAC and program records with a time of 7:06.15, and took second place with three other relay groups (200 medley relay, 400 medley relay, 400 freestyle relay). Her outstanding swims helped the RedHawks finish second overall as a team, their best showing at the MAC championships since 2014. Maier, a native of Bottrop Germany, is a senior Professional Writing major in the College of Arts and Science.

Male Winner: Ryland Zaborowski
Ryland Zaborowski helped lead Miami Baseball to a sweep of Oakland this weekend, crushing three home runs and amassing nine hits during the three-game series. Zaborowski went 9-for-14 (.643) at the plate for the week with five extra-base hits and drove in nine runs, including hitting a pair of homers in a 21-7 victory on Friday. Zaborowski is a redshirt junior Sport Management major in the College of Education, Health & Society from Gilbert, Ariz.
