Swim and Dive Finishes Strong After Miami Classic Day One

OXFORD, Ohio – The Miami University men and women's swimming and diving teams finished strong after day one of the Miami Classic. The women are currently in first (508 points) ahead of the University of Miami (146 points) and Youngstown State University (YSU) (74 points). The men are leading with 475 points ahead of YSU (98 points) and Cleveland State University (23 points).

The men and women will both compete tomorrow, Saturday, Feb. 9 at 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. for the second day of the Miami Classic at home.
How It Happened:
- The day kicked off with the 200 freestyle relay where the men's A team finished first seeing Gabriel Perseguin, Ian Kmiliauskis, Jack Herczeg and Ian Arnold come in at 1:21.72.
- Following that, Miami had strong performances in the 500 freestyle with Greta Kolbeck in first for the women (4:49.85) alongside Casey Stephens in second (4:57.74). Nick Barrows came in first for the men (4:33.23), Tommy Frye in second place (4:35.14) and Neal Wolfram in third (4:38.03).
- In the women's 200 IM Nicole Maier placed first (2:00.79), Ashley Sego in second (2:03.28) and Chrisna Bezuidenhout in third (2:05.54). For the men, Henju Duvenhage finished first (1:46.60), Allen Cotton in second (1:50.85) and Adrian Dulay in third (1:51.42).
- The RedHawks finished the day with the 50 freestyle where Madeline Padavic placed first with a time of 22.99 and Jenna Halliday in second with a time of 23.56. For the men, Tegan Barrier came in first (20.78), Perseguin in second (20.84) and Mason Miller in third (20.99).
