Maier, Perseguin Win MAC Swimmer of Week Honors

CLEVELAND— The Mid-American Conference announced its Swimmers and Divers of the Week today, and two Miami University student-athletes were recognized. Senior Nicole Maier is the Women's Swimmer of the Week for the fourth time this season, and freshman Gabriel Perseguin has been named the Men's Swimmer of the Week.
During last Friday's meet against Akron, Maier secured victories in the 50 free (22.82), 200 medley relay (22.12 split), and 200 IM (2:02.89). The next day vs. Xavier, Maier logged winning times of 50.27 and 1:50.06 in the 50 free and 200 free, respectively. The Bottrop, Germany native also was victorious in the 100 IM with a time of 56.78 in the meet against the Musketeers.
Perseguin collected four victories in four races during the RedHawks' co-ed meet against Xavier, capturing two individual races and helping win two relays. The Rio de Janeiro, Brazil native took first in the 50 freestyle (21.05) and the 50 butterfly (22.02), adding winning performances in the 200 freestyle relay (1:23.42 with a 20.59 split) and 400 medley relay (3:20.83 with a butterfly split of 48.58).
Miami Swimming and Diving is back in action this weekend with the Miami Classic (Feb. 9-10 in Oxford).
