EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Addy Jarvis of the Miami University softball team held the University of Evansville to one hit in the RedHawks' 13-0 shutout on Monday afternoon. The RedHawk offense helped limit the game to five innings with some strong batting. Miami stays undefeated at 7-0 on the season and Evansville drops to 0-7.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- In the top of the first, Karli Spaid got it started for the RedHawks, hitting a two-run homer that also scored Jenna Golembiewski and gave Miami the 2-0 lead.
- Golembiewski doubled in the bottom of the second to score Allie Cummins and put the RedHawks up 3-0.
- A three-run homer from Kate Kobayshi also scored Holly Blaska and Sami Bewick in the top of the fifth to double the RedHawks' lead to 6-0.
- Later in that same inning, Chloe Parks hit an RBI double that scored Maddi Banks. Cummins followed that up with a two-RBI single that scored McKenna Campbell and Parks to widen the gap to 9-0.
- Still in the fifth, an error allowed Spaid to reach first, Golembiewski moved to second, and Kari Kruger scampered home. Bewick followed that up with a three-run homer that also scored Spaid and Golembiewski, putting the score at 13-0, which stuck through the remainder of the inning, giving the RedHawks the five inning run-rule win.
NOTES:
- Nine different RedHawks had hits.
- Cummins, Golembiewski, Spaid, Bewick, Kobayashi, and Parks all had at least one RBI.
- Jarvis pitched the complete game and allowed only one hit, while striking out four.
- The Miami offense had six extra base hits.
- Campbell had her first career hit on a single to third base.
