Three RedHawks Make West All-Region Team

NFHCA – On Dec. 4 the National Field Hockey Coaches Association released their All-Region teams. The Miami University field hockey team placed three athletes on the teams. Claudia Negrete Garcia and Berta Mata were named to the West Region First Team and Henriette Schlueter was named to the West Region Second Team.

Negrete Garcia finished this season leading the RedHawks in goals (17), points (36), shots (95), shots on goal (68), and game-winning goals (5). She additionally ranks 17th in the country in goals per game (0.77). This year she was named to the Mid-American Conference First-Team, named to the MAC All-Tournament Team, and named MAC Tournament MVP.

Mata finished the season with 13 assists (second on the RedHawks), 17 points, 19 shots, and two goals. She was named to the Academic All-MAC Team, MAC All-Tournament Team, All-MAC First Team and was additionally named MAC Defensive Player of the Year.

Schlueter scored eight goals this season, managed seven assists, collected 23 points, and made 52 shots. In addition, she was also named MAC Freshman Player of the Year and was named to the All-MAC Freshman Team and All MAC First-Team.
