Negrete Garcia, Mata Named NFHCA Third-Team All-Americans

MANAHAWKING, NJ – Claudia Negrete Garcia and Berta Mata earned Third-Team All-Americans by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) on Tuesday afternoon.

This past season, Negrete Garcia scored 17 goals and finished with 36 points, helping the RedHawks to a MAC Regular Season and MAC Tournament Championship. She had a hat trick in a win over Longwood and scored two goals versus Northwestern in the NCAA Tournament. She finished the season with a career-high 68 shots on goal and had five game-winning goals in 2024. She ranks second in program history in career goals (76), assists (27) and points (179).

Mata, a mainstay on Miami's defense, recorded career-bests in goals (2), assists (13), points (17) and shots (19) this past season. The 2024 MAC Defensive Player of the Year, picked up a goals versus Michigan and Central Michigan this pas season and added a career-high three assists in a win over Longwood.
