Two RedHawks Named to NFHCA Collegiate Senior Team

COLORADO SPRINGS– On Thursday, the National Field Hockey Coaches Association released the 2024 Collegiate Senior Team. Two RedHawks, Claudia Negrete Garcia and Paula Peña Martinez, have been honored following a pair of exceptional careers at Miami University. Both of the grad students have been a part of the team for five years and have earned a Mid-American Conference regular-season title and tournament championship in each season.

Negrete Garcia finished this season leading the RedHawks in goals (17), points (36), shots (95), shots on goal (68) and game-winning goals (5). She additionally ranks 17th in the country in goals per game (0.77). In her career, she has been named to the Mid-American Conference First Team four times, the MAC Offensive Player of the Year once, MAC Freshman of the Year once, and --in this year's tournament championship-- MAC Tournament MVP.

Peña Martinez finished the season with an impressive 11 goals, 23 points, 51 shots, 35 shots on goal and two game-winning goals. In her career, she was named Second-Team All-MAC three times, First-Team All-MAC twice, and MAC Tournament MVP once.
