For their performances last week, Julia Rushing and Danny Fisher are Miami's Athletes of the Week, presented by Skyline Chili for the week of Sept. 4.
 

Female Winner: Julia Rushing
Julia Rushing finished second out of 26 runners to pace the Miami women's cross country team at Friday's season-opening RedHawk Rumble in Oxford. Rushing posted a time of 17:46.16 on the 5K course, less than one and a half seconds behind the first-place finisher and just over a second away from setting a new PR. Rushing, a senior from Naperville, Ill, is studying Public Health in the College of Arts and Science.







Male Winner: Danny Fisher
Danny Fisher tied for fourth out of 76 golfers at this week's Island Resort Intercollegiate in Harris, Mich to lead Miami Golf. Fisher carded back-to-back 67s in the first two rounds and finished the event with a three-round score of 207 (67-67-73). As a team, Fisher and the RedHawks came in fourth out of 11 programs (one stroke back from third place) to get the 2023-24 season started. Fisher is a senior Marketing major in the Farmer School of Business from Lake Forest, Ill.
