Ryan Swallow, Miami's Director of Student-Athlete Academic Support Services, has announced the addition of Emily Bruns to his staff as a Sr. Individualized Learning Specialist/Academic Coordinator.
"I'm grateful for the opportunity to build upon my work at Miami," said Bruns. "Furthering the connections I have with student-athletes and staff is a priority, as well as encouraging a culture of lifelong learning and responsibility. Go RedHawks!"
Bruns has served as an Individualized Learning Specialist with Miami since July, 2021. In her role, she provides time management and organizational skills, as well as fosters relationships, implements learning interventions and creates study strategies with current Miami student-athletes.
"We are excited for Emily to begin her new role," said Swallow. "Emily brings strong experience working with student-athletes to develop strong time management and study skills. Emily will oversee the Individualized Learning Specialist program and will help us expand on this program to provide more support for our student-athletes."
Prior to joining the RedHawks, Bruns served as an elementary teacher for the Fayette County School Corporation from 2004-12. She has also spent time volunteering with Girls on the Run, her children's schools, and church activities.
Bruns earned her elementary education degree from Indiana University in 2003 and completed her master of arts educational psychology from Ball State University in 2021.
