RedHawks Finish Weekend Strong in Raleigh

RALEIGH, N.C.- The Miami University outdoor track and field team had an impressive three-day weekend at the Raleigh Relays.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • On the field, Ryan Smith competed in the men's hammer event and finished in 16th place with 56.75m. Ryan Smith also finished 16th place in the men's discus event with 47.68m. Adam Smith was not too far behind him, coming in 26th place with 43.69m and setting a new personal best by three meters. Ryan Smith also competed in the javelin and finished in 25th place with 55.11m.
  • In the men's 200m, Leo Bouldin finished in 22nd place with a time of 21.71. Jacob Ranker finished 40th in the 400m with a time of 49:10. Ranker took sixth place in the men's 400m hurdles, posting a time of 53.04 seconds. Eman Alfred competed in the 110m hurdles and finished in 24th place with a time of 14.96 seconds. In the men's 100m dash, De'Yon Brown finished 18th with a time of 10.78 seconds.
  • In the men's 3000m steeple, Charlie Harders finished in sixth place with a time of 8:43.60. Obsaa Feda competed in the 10000m event and finished in 61st place with a time of 29:47.61.
  • In the women's 200m dash, Abby Suszek finished in 38th place with a time of 24.78 seconds. Suszek also competed in the 400m, and she finished in 37th place with a time of 56.39. The women's 4x100 relay team finished 11th with a time of 47.51 seconds.
  • On the field, Allie Melchiorre finished in 19th place in the javelin throw with 39.89m. Santornya Ralliford finished in 25th place in the shot put event with 12.93m. Ralliford also competed in the discus throw and set a personal best with 42.72m!
  • Annie Christie ran in the women's 5000m and she finished in 54th place with a time of 16:40.27. In the women's 10000m, Ava Nuttall finished in sixth place with a time of 33:10.75. Nuttall not only set a new school record, but recorded the best time in conference history.
  • "It was a good step forward for the group," said head coach Tom Chorny. "We're not trying to peak until May for the majority of our team, so it was great to put up some good efforts."
 
WHAT'S NEXT
The RedHawks compete in the Oliver Nikoloff Invitational next weekend at the University of Cincinnati.
