RedHawks Swim Past Ball State in Co-Ed Victory

The Miami University swimming and diving team claimed victory in a co-ed visiting meet against Ball State on Saturday, Jan. 21. The men's team finished on top 168-132, while the women's team won 167-132.

How It Happened:
- The meet kicked off with the 200 medley relay. For the women's A relay team, Madeline Padavic, Emma Schueler, Honor Brodie-Foy and Nicole Maier came in first with a combined time of 1:44.61. The men's A relay team of Owen Blazer, Adrian Dulay, Henju Duvenhage and Jack Herczeg took second, earning a combined time of 1:33.12.
- The RedHawks' men's team swept top placements in the 1000 freestyle, with Evan Kindseth in first (9:45.99), Yonatan Rosin in second (9:49.87) and Nick Barrows in third (9:57.51). Audrey Conley finished first for the women's team (10:26.80), with Katheryn Antonowich placing third (10:42.36).
- Greta Kolbeck won the women's 200 freestyle for Miami with a time of 1:52.62, followed by Mollie Lumsden in third (1:54.96). The men's team had Uroš Djokovic taking first with a time of 1:43.21.
- In the men's 100 backstroke, Blazer (52.05) and Fitz Miller (53.02) placed first and second respectively. Angelina Cakuls finished first for the women's team with a time of 57.35, with Padavic finishing third (57.75).
- Sara Lahrach-Sanchez took second in the women's 100 breaststroke (1:05.91), while Caitlin Horn followed in third (1:08.52). For the men's team, Dulay took second (59.37) and Benjamin Eichberg took third (59.64).
- The women's 200 butterfly saw a first-place finish from Maier (2:05.47), with Erin Szczupakiewicz close behind in second (2:05.66). Allen Cotton won the event for the men's team (1:53.78), while Tommy Frye placed third (1:55.28).
- Herczeg and Taylor Connors both took third in the 50 freestyle; Herczeg earned a time of 21.36 and Connors earned a time of 24.31. The pair also placed second in the 100 freestyle, Connors with a time of 52.98 and Herczeg with a time of 46.70, followed by Matt Fetterman in third (47.14).
- In the 200 backstroke, Blazer came out on top with a time of 1:53.01, with Zach Bann in second (1:53.47). Cakuls also won the event for the women's team with a time of 2:03.37, where Lumsden placed second (2:05.60).
- Eichberg finished second in the men's 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:09.43, followed by Dulay in third (2:10.72). For the women's team, Lahrach-Sanchez placed second (2:23.47).
- The Miami men's team had the top-three placements in the 500 freestyle, with Frye in first (4:44.43), Djokovic in second (4:44.61) and Rosin in third (4:49.72). Kolbeck won the event for the women's team with a time of 5:05.72.
- Szczupakiewicz took first in the women's 100 butterfly with a time of 57.27, with McKenzie Reid in third (58.83). The men's team had Jack Clouatre in first with a time of 50.77.
- The men's team once again took all top-three finishes, this time in the 400 IM where Cotton took first (4:09.05), Barrows took second (4:10.13) and Bann took third (4:13.68). Maier won for the women's team with a time of 4:24.83.
- The meet closed out with the 400 freestyle relay. The women's A relay team of Kolbeck, Connors, Jenna Halliday and Julia Waechter took first with a combined time of 3:30.01. Herczeg, Djokovic, Duvenhage and Fetterman brought the men's A relay team to a second-place finish, earning a combined time of 3:05.37.
- In diving events, Jackson Miller came out on top in the men's 3 meter dive, scoring 360.53 points; Mia Meinhardt placed second for the women's team, scoring 269.25 points. Meinhardt also finished second in the women's 1 meter dive (263.85), with Nora Kowalski in third (242.78), while Miller placed second for the men's team (295.13) and John Dymond placed third (292.69).
