DeRoy Named Assistant Human Performance Coach

James Carsey, Miami's Assistant Athletic Director for Human Performance, has announced the addition of Michael DeRoy to the staff. DeRoy will serve as an Assistant Human Performance Coach.

"I'm excited to join the staff here at Miami University," said DeRoy. "I'm thankful for the opportunity to support athletes as they pursue their goals."

DeRoy comes to Miami after one year as a graduate assistant at Kent State. He served as the lead strength and conditioning coach for track & field, cross country, cheer & dance and developmental baseball for the past two years.

Prior to his time at Kent State, DeRoy was at Mid-American conference foe Central Michigan in the summer of 2021 as an intern. While with the Chippewas he worked primary with football, helping with strength, conditioning, speed, agility, mobility, flexibility, corrective exercises, soft tissue rehabilitation and nutrition.

"During the interview process, it was very clear that Mike check many of the boxes that we were looking for in this position," said Carsey. "His passion for the overall growth of the Student Athlete not just for their immediate needs but also their future really showed through. He brings energy with a servant's heart to each session; we are excited to have him join HP staff."

DeRoy has also worked at Minnesota State – Moorhead (2020-21) and Saginaw Valley State University (2019-20).

He graduated from SVSU in 2020 with a degree in exercise science and is expected to complete his masters from KSU in sports administration in 2022.
