Army Gets Best of RedHawks, 23-10

WEST POINT, N.Y. – Missed opportunities plagued the Miami University football team on Saturday afternoon in a 23-10 loss to the Army Black Knights. The loss drops the Red and White to 1-3 on the year while Army improves to 4-0 on the year.

How it Happen:
- Army opened the scoring with a 72-yard touchdown run on its first offensive series of the game to claim a 7-0 lead.
- Graham Nicholson made it a 7-3 contest early in the second quarter with a 29-yard field goal, but on the next offensive play of the game, Army's quarterback ran for a 75-yard score.
- Army added a second quarter field goal to claim a 17-3 advantage at the half.
- After Miami's defense forced a three-and-out to begin the second half, the offense marched down to the Army 1-yard line but could not punch it in.
- The Black Knights then went 18 plays for 99 yards, capped by a 5-yard touchdown rush to pull ahead 23-3.
- Miami answered quickly as Brett Gabbert found Kevin Davis on a wheel route for an 80-yard touchdown The RedHawks trailed 23-10 with 11:03 remaining, but could get no closer.
Game Notes:
- Gabbert's 80-yard touchdown pass to Davis was Gabbert's longest TD pass of his career. It was also Davis' first career receiving score.
- Ivan Pace Jr. had a career-high 12 tackles and Kameron Butler recorded a career-best 11 stops as well. Defensive tackle Austin Ertl added a career-best nine tackles.
- Miami allowed no passing yards in the contest for the first time since 2018, also versus Army.
- The Black Knights rushed 63 times for 384 yards, including carries of 72, 75 and 42 yards. Army averaged just 3.2 yards per carry on the other 60 attempts.
