Miami Men Earn Two MAC Records in Day One of Championships

OXFORD, Ohio — The Miami University men's swimming and diving team competed in the first day of the 2021 Mid-American Conference Championships on Thursday held on home turf at the Miami Aquatics Center.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The RedHawks began the championships with a win in the 200 freestyle relay (1:18.73), getting the victory with the new MAC record. Pedro Gueiros, Cole Grosshans, Nic Wamsley, and Ben Chatwin earned the win. Miami also finished on top in the 400-medley relay (3:10.30), securing another MAC record. Owen Blazer, Noah Barr, Henju Duvenhage, and Wamsley earned the huge 40 points for Miami.
- Duvenhage earned an individual victory on day one, clinching the 200 individual medley event with a time of 1:45.45.
- Wamsley had a career day for the 'Hawks after his two medley wins. The junior earned second-place in the 50 freestyle, finishing with a time of 19.92.

The RedHawks continue the MAC Championships with day two tomorrow, April 9.
