RedHawks Comeback Falls Short at Ohio, 35-33

How it Happened:
- The Bobcats led 28-0 early in the third quarter before Miami's epic comeback attempt began.
- The combo of Brett Gabbert and Jack Sorenson were nearly unstoppable all evening. Gabbert finished the contest with 492 yards passing and five touchdowns and Jack Sorenson had a career-high 14 catches for 283 yards and two scores. Junior Mac Hippenhammer added 73 yards and his first two touchdown game of his Miami career.
- Miami got on the board with a 51-yard pass from Gabbert to Jalen Walker to cut the lead to 28-7 midway through the third stanza. Gabbert then found Sorenson on a 15-yard score as the OU advantage was cut to 28-13.
- The most crucial play of the game came on the first snap of the fourth quarter. Miami marched down to the OU 11-yard line and faced a 4th-and-1, but came up short on the attempt.
- Miami made the game interesting when Gabbert found Sorenson for an 82-yard score with 3:17 to go, but following an unsuccessful on-side kick attempt, Ohio rushed for a 46-yard score to end the comeback.
- Gabbert led the RedHawks on one final touchdown drive, capped by a 5-yard touchdown pass to Hippenhammer.
Game Notes:
- Ivan Pace Jr. had a career-high 18 tackles and added two sacks.
- Jack Sorenson had his fourth-straight 100-yard game, finishing the contest with 14 catches for 283 receiving yards. The 14 catches is one shy of a school record, while his 283 yards is a new Miami record, previously held by Nick Harwell with 229 versus Temple back in 2011.
- Brett Gabbert threw for a career-high 492 yards, which ranks third all-time in Miami history. His five touchdown passes are second-most in Miami history. Gabbert finished the contest with 515 total yards, third best in program history.
