RedHawks Come Up Short at Eastern Michigan, 13-12

YPSILANTI, Mich. – The Miami University football team out gained Eastern Michigan 385-257, but settled for four field goals in a 13-12 loss on Saturday afternoon. The loss drops Miami to 2-4 overall and 1-1 in Mid-American Conference play, while the Eagles improve to 4-2, 1-1 MAC.
AJ Mayer threw for 259 yards and Jack Sorenson had a game-high seven grabs for 123 yards. Defensively Ivan Pace had a team-high 12 tackles, while five different RedHawks recorded sacks.

How it Happened:
- Following an Ivan Pace Jr. interception on EMU's opening drive, Miami's offense set up a 49-yard Graham Nicholson field goal to put the RedHawks up 3-0 midway through the first quarter. Nicholson added a 40-yard field goal on Miami's next drive as the Red and White led 6-0 with 2:05 to play in the first.
- EMU took its first lead of the game, scoring a touchdown midway through the second quarter. The Eagles added a 47-yard field goal at the end of the half and went to the locker room with a 10-6 advantage.
- Both teams exchanged field goals to begin the third with EMU holding a 13-9 advantage with 5:40 left in the quarter.
- Nicholson made it 13-12 with 6:29 to play in the contest with a 44-yard field, his fourth of the afternoon.
- Miami's offense marched back into EMU territory but Mayer's fourth-down pass was deflected at the line of scrimmage.
Game Notes:
- Austin Ertl recorded his first career sack and Jacquez Warren made his first career start at nickel.
- Jack Sorenson extended his catch streak to 32-straight games.
- Miami's defensive line had six sacks from five different players. Kameron Butler led the way with two sacks.
