Miami Football Legend, Nick Mourouzis, Passes Away

Nick Mourouzis, quarterback for Miami from 1956-58, recently passed away.

Mourouzis helped lead Miami to MAC Championships in 1957 and 1958, going undefeated in conference play both years.

After graduating from Miami in 1959, he went on to coach at Northwestern, Indiana, Ball State, Ohio and DePauw. He served as head coach at DePauw for 23 years, compiling a 138-87-4 record, becoming DePauw's winningest coach in school history.
At the time of his retirement, he ranked 12th among active NCAA Division III coaches in victories and 44th in winning percentage among active coaches with at least five years of head coaching experience. Only six Division III coaches with at least 20 years as a head coach had a higher winning percentage. Mourouzis was named the Southern Collegiate Athletics Conference (SCAC) Coach of the Year in 2000 after leading the Tigers to a share of their first SCAC title.

Following his coaching career, he was inducted into Miami's Cradle of Coaches Association in 2002.
