Sixteen Former RedHawks Open Season in NFL

As the National Football League kicks off Thursday evening, 16 different RedHawks are scattered throughout the NFL. Five players, two head coaches, seven assistant coaches and two strength coaches all began their careers in Oxford, Ohio.

NFL Players
Ben Roethlisberger – The two-time Super Bowl Champion has been with the Pittsburgh Steelers since 2004. He has made six Pro Bowls and competed in 21 playoff games throughout his career.
Brandon Brooks – Has been in the NFL since 2012, playing for the Houston Texans and Philadelphia Eagles. Brooks has made three straight Pro Bowls (2017-19), but will miss the 2020 season with an injury.
Sam Sloman – Sloman enters his rookie year as the starting placekicker for the LA Rams. He was a seventh round draft pick in the 2020 NFL draft.
Doug Costin – Costin made the 53-man roster after signing a contract as an undrafted free agent with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Costin was one of just 33 undrafted free agents to make NFL rosters this year.
Nate Becker – Becker is currently on the practice squad of the Buffalo Bills.

John Harbaugh – A member of Miami's Cradle of Coaches, Harbaugh helped the Baltimore Ravens capture Super Bowl XLVII. Harbaugh has been at the helm of the Ravens since 2008.
Sean McVay – McVay begins his fourth year as head coach of the LA Rams. McVay is 33-15 overall as head coach and helped the Rams advance to the Super Bowl in 2018, earning NFL Coach of the Year that same season.
