The RedHawks have 19 regular season tilts and 20 competition dates scheduled for the fall.
OXFORD, Ohio – Sitting a couple months away from the team reporting back to campus, Miami head soccer coach Courtney Sirmans has finalized the RedHawks' fall schedule.
The RedHawks have 20 competition dates locked in with 19 regular season competitions in store for Sirmans' third year guiding the program.
"We are excited that even due to everything that has happened with the Coronavirus, that we are able to have a full 20-game schedule for the 2020 season," Sirmans said. "To be able play cross town rivals like Dayton and Wright State is great for Southern Ohio soccer! Notre Dame is a fantastic soccer program and we are thrilled to play a team of their caliber to see how our program is progressing. The Mid-American Conference has changed to a Thursday-Sunday schedule which is really going to help the student-athletes with recovery and preparation. Only nine short weeks until our first exhibition game and we hope to see Redhawk fans this fall!"
After returning to campus in early August, Miami takes in its first competition with an exhibition tilt at Valparaiso on Aug. 14. The 2020 regular season gets underway six days later on Aug. 20 when MU hosts Western Kentucky at Bobby Kramig Field. The opening weekend of the season concludes with an Aug. 23 trip to Notre Dame, a second round NCAA Tournament qualifier a year ago. The August schedule wraps up with a tilt at Youngstown State on Aug. 28.
September features several regional opponents and in-state foes as the Red & White host Morehead State (Sept. 4) and Dayton (Sept. 6). After a Sept. 11 clash at Cleveland State, Miami wraps up non-conference competition with a home match against Wright State (Sept. 13) and a road tilt at Illinois State (Sept. 20).
An 11-match MAC slate begins on Oct. 1 as the RedHawks head to Akron before hosting Buffalo on Oct. 4. Each two-match week of conference play is set up for competitions on Thursdays and Sundays to afford more rest time between contests for the student-athletes. Week two of MAC play has MU host Toledo (Oct. 8) and travel to Bowling Green (Oct. 11). Tilts with Kent State (Oct. 15) and at Ohio (Oct. 18) headline week three and October ends with a trip to Northern Illinois (Oct. 22) and a home match against Western Michigan (Oct. 25).
The RedHawks head to their travel partner Ball State on Nov. 1 and wrap up the regular season campaign against Central Michigan (Nov. 5) and at Eastern Michigan (Nov. 8). The regular season MAC champion secures an automatic bid to the 2020 NCAA Tournament.
Miami returns 11 letter winners and nine starters from its 2019 squad.
