Tennis Drops Match to Winthrop

The 'Hawks will play again tomorrow at Marshall.

HUNTINGTON, W.V. - The Miami RedHawks dropped a tough 7-0 decision on Saturday to the Winthrop Eagles, falling to 4-5 on the season.

Doubles was a sweep for Winthrop, although the RedHawks number one duo of Laura Rico and Milana Lysova just narrowly were defeated by a score of 7-5.

Likewise, singles matches all went to the Eagles. Three of the matches did go to three sets, with Melati Devi, Makenzie Myers, and Lena Babunski all pushed their matches to the distance. Myers specifically just narrowly dropped her match, falling in a close tiebreak in the third set.

The RedHawks will look to bounce back tomorrow with a match against Marshall.
