Israel Woolfork begins his sixth year with Miami and his third year coaching wide receivers. He spent three seasons coaching running backs as well.
Woolford's impact can be seen across the wide receiver group, but it starts with Jack Sorenson. Prior to 2018, Sorenson had never caught a pass with the RedHawks. That changed quickly as Sorenson would earn third team All-MAC honors, catching 53 passes for 742 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Despite battling injuries all season long, Sorenson continued to improve in 2019. The junior was named Offensive Player of the Game in the MAC Championship win with eight catches for 123 yards and a touchdown.
This past season Woolfork had several young players under his wing, none more noticeable than James Burns. Burns burst onto the scene in 2019. Despite catching just 20 balls all year, the freshman had 506 receiving yards (25.3 avg.) and had eight catches of over 35 yards in 2019.
