The RedHawks close the season at 12-11.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. - A memorable season came to an end for the Miami RedHawks tennis team Friday as the 'Hawks fell in their NCAA Tournament first round match at the hands of the eighth-ranked Vanderbilt Commodores by a score of 4-0.
The RedHawks end the season at 12-11 and as Mid-American Conference regular season and tournament champions.
The doubles session started off well for Miami, as the RedHawks jumped out to early leads on two of the three courts and looked to be giving the Commodores all they could handle. However, Vanderbilt would start to pull away and ultimately claimed the opening point with wins on courts one and two.
Vanderbilt continued that momentum into singles, taking quick first-set victories on five out of six courts. The Commodores would convert those one-set leads on courts one, two, and three, clinching the match by a 4-0 scoreline. Makenzie Myers had taken a one-set lead after a 6-4 win on court six, but her match was left unfinished following the Vanderbilt clinch.
