CINCINNATI, Ohio - The RedHawks battled to the end, but the Miami University women's tennis team was unable to find the crucial points it need as the 'Hawks fell to the rival Cincinnati Bearcats 5-2 Saturday night inside The Club at Harper's Point.

The 'Hawks fall to 1-5 on the non-conference season with the loss, while UC now sits at 5-2. 

As with the RedHawks' last several matches, the doubles point started close on all three courts but saw Miami unable to see the matches through. After starting 3-3, the second-court doubles match went to Cincinnati as the Bearcats' team of Guna/Philp won the final three games to take the 6-3 victory over Miami's Lena Babunski and Milana Lysova. The first court went similarly, as UC clinched the doubles point with a 6-4 win. The third court was abandoned with the score at 6-6.

Over in the singles matches, a familiar pattern repeated itself as nationally-ranked #96 Brindtha Ramasamy made quick work of the Bearcats' Guna to win 6-2, 6-0 and even the match at 1-1. Unfortunately for the 'Hawks, this is the closest they would come. UC took two-set victories on courts three and five, and sat one point away from clinching the match.

They would get that point over at second singles, where Milana Lysova's efforts to push the match to three sets was thwarted by Cincinnati's Bramato, who closed it out 6-3, 6-4. With the overall match decided, the two remaining courts went to third-set tiebreaks. Miami was able to get their second point on the board in one of those, as Emily Struble recovered from a dropped first set to win the tiebreak and the match. The final match on court six went to Cincinnati, as Emma Miceli barely clipped Lena Babunski in the tiebreak.
