
Camila Lins de Mello Named MAC Swimmer of the Week

CLEVELAND – The Mid-American Conference announced its weekly swimming and diving awards on Wednesday. Sophomore Camila Lins de Mello was named women's MAC Swimmer of the Week for the second time this season.
Lins de Mello swept all three individual events she swam against the defending MAC Champion Akron Zips last weekend, winning the 100 free, 200 free and 200 IM in addition to contributing to Miami's top 400 free relay squad. Lins de Mello beat out all competition in the 200 IM (2:03.01) by 2.93 seconds after winning the 200 free (1:48.49) by 2.27 seconds and the 100 free (50.49) by 1.44 seconds. She finished the day with the quickest leg of the 400 free relay among all competitors, beating her 100 free time from earlier in the meet by swimming a 50.24.
The Miami men and women host Cincinnati and Michigan State in a double dual meet this Saturday at 1 p.m. inside the Nixon Aquatic Center.
