CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Miami baseball team was on the wrong side of a power surge as Xavier used eight home runs to top Miami, 13-3, on Sunday in the series finale.
The RedHawks got a nice start to the game thanks to a one-out Parker Massman walk that was followed by a two-run blast from Ross Haffey, his fifth round-tripper of 2018.
Miami's lead was short-lived though as a three-run bottom of the first thrusted Xavier in front, 3-2, after just an inning of play.
The Musketeers pushed across a pair of runs in both the third and fifth innings to grab a 7-0 lead.
The Red & White got a run back in the away half of the sixth as Massman collected his second homer of the year, a solo shot to cut the XU lead to 7-3. The Musketeers pulled away in their half of the frame as five solo homers made it 12-3.
Xavier tacked on a single run in the eighth on yet another solo blast to cap a 13-run outing.
Miami is back in action on Tuesday at 6 p.m. on the road at Cincinnati.
