
Miami Splits Squad This Weekend

OXFORD, Ohio - The Miami University swimming and diving team will participate in two events this weekend. The men will compete at Ball State in a conference dual meet on Saturday at 1 p.m. Some of the men and women will travel to the Ohio State Winter Invitational for a Saturday and Sunday event.
Last weekend, both the men (206-55) and women (184-75) beat Xavier on senior day. The men recorded a win on every single event on the day. Senior Thomas Blackstone (Hutch) and sophomore Iago Moussalem led the way with three wins apiece. The women finished with the fastest time in 12 of 14 events with senior Holly Schuster recording three wins.
Ball State is currently 1-3 in dual meets this season. Last weekend, Ball State fell to Notre Dame (159-62) and Wisconsin Green-Bay (195.5-42.5).
The teams competing in the Ohio State Winter Invitational include Cincinnati, Cleveland State, Eastern Michigan, IUPUI, Kentucky, Miami, Notre Dame, Ohio State, University of the Pacific, Penn State, Pittsburgh and the women of Purdue. Representing Miami on the women's side will be Meredith Applegate, Ana Maria Castellanos, Sarah Heaven, Colleen McDermott, Michaela Mitchell, Maureen Sullivan, Hannah Wessel and Sarah Wolanske. Representing Miami on the men's side will be William Bowater, Wesley Fales, Nicholas Haller, Joe Hanson and Harrison Paul.
The women's MAC Championships will take place in Athens, Ohio from Wednesday, February 21 through Saturday, February 24. Miami hosts the men's MAC Championships from Wednesday, February 28 through Saturday, March 3.
