Kayky Mota Named MAC Swimmer of the Week

CLEVELAND - Freshman swimmer Kayky Mota was named Mid-American Conference Men's Swimmer of the Week, the conference announced Thursday. Mota receives this honor based on his first competition as a RedHawk.
In Mota's first meet with the RedHawks he finished first in both events he competed in, helping propel Miami to a 217-81 win over Ball State. In the 200 IM, Mota set a team-best time for the season (1:53.17), finishing over three seconds quicker than the runner up. Mota touched the wall almost a second faster than the runner-up finisher in the 200 fly, clocking a time of 1:52.55.
The women's MAC Championships begin on Wednesday, February 21 and conclude on Saturday, February 24 in Athens, Ohio. Miami hosts the men's MAC Championships from Wednesday, February 28 through Saturday, March 3.
