
Koenig Named MAC East Defensive Player of the Week

Brad Koenig, a member of the Miami University football team, has been named Mid-American Conference East Division Defensive Player of the Week following his outing last Saturday. The announcement was made by the league office.

The fifth-year senior, making his first career start at middle linebacker, had four tackles, one tackle for loss, two interceptions, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery in Miami's 41-17 road win at Akron.

Koenig and the entire RedHawk defense held the Zips to 259 yards of offense, including just 56 yards rushing (on 28 carries). Overall, the defense forced five turnovers and had three sacks in the victory.

Miami returns to action this Saturday at home versus Kent State. Opening kick is set for 2:30 p.m.
