
Miami Falls to Eastern Michigan

OXFORD, Ohio - The Miami University swimming and diving team fell to Eastern Michigan on Saturday. The women were beaten by a 169-131 margin and the men by a 207-93 margin.
The women were strong in the fly with Kayleigh Cannon winning the 200 (2:03.95) and Peyton Mosbaugh winning the 100 (55.97). Pei Lin once again swept the diving competition, recording 303.15 points in the 1 mtr and 366.75 in the 3 mtr.
Miami took the top two finishes in the 200 free and the 200 IM. In the 200 free, Ella Moynihan finished first (1:51.19) with Molly Zilch coming in second (1:52.45). In the 200 IM, Holly Schuster recorded the win (2:06.91) and Hannah Fuchs finished second (2:06.91).
The women recorded a second-place finish in seven other events on the day. In the 200 medley relay, Mosbaugh, Moynihan, Elise Campbell and Izzy Herb finished in 1:43.59. Moynihan, Zilch, Mosbaugh and Campbell were the top Miami team in the 400 free relay (3:28.99). Other second-place finishes include Emma Bradley in the 1000 free (10:04.66), Campbell in the 100 breast (1:03.02), Campbell in the 100 free (52.06), Holly Schuster in the 200 breast (2:17.59) and Moynihan in the 500 free (4:55.31).
The men were strong in distance free with Austin Theobald winning the 1000 free (9:34.11) and Gordon Wheeler winning the 500 free (4:39.71). Iago Moussalem, Nicholas Ward, Diego GonzÃÆ'Æ'¡lez Valentim and Chase Bettner finished first in the 400 free relay (3:04.38).
Harrison Moncino had his best showing of the year, recording his season-high 330.37 points in the 3 mtr and 320.70 in the 1 mtr. Moncino's 1 mtr score is the highest for the men this season.
The men recorded a second-place finish in four other events with Diego Valentim finishing second in the 200 free (1:40.85), Noah Barr in the 100 breast (56.95), Ward in the 50 free (21.20) and Moussalem in the 100 fly (49.89).
Miami's men and women host Xavier on Saturday, February 3 for senior day at 1 p.m.
