LEXINGTON, Ky. - The Miami University women's track and field team resumed its indoor season at the Kentucky Invitational over the weekend.
MU posted three individual top-10 finishes on the track in its first meet since the BGSU Opener back on Dec. 8.
"We've only been back in the swing of things for a week," Director of Track and Field/Cross Country Tom Chorny said. "This was a good chance to get on the track and finish off a really hard week of training. Our main focus is to get ready for the MAC Championships, so we weren't expecting huge performances this weekend."
Headlining the RedHawks was reigning Mid-American Conference Outdoor Freshman of the Year Olivia Bechtel. She posted Miami's highest individual finish by placing seventh in the 400m by clocking 56.43. Emily Hooker also cracked the top 10 in the race, finishing 10th in 57.25. Maria Scavuzzo also recorded a top-10 finish in her season debut as she finished eighth in the mile run with a time of 5:00.34.
"We only get better from here and are looking forward to some great performances from the women this season," Chorny said.
The RedHawks will be back in action on Friday when they head to the Gladstein Invitational for a two-day meet at Indiana.
