OXFORD, Ohio - Miami University's Assistant Athletic Director for Equipment Services and Special Projects Darrell Hallberg has added Scott Finzel as an Athletic Equipment Intern.
Finzel is a 2017 graduate of Purdue University and spent his undergraduate years working with the Boilermakers' football team and equipment staff.
"We are excited to have Scottie join the Miami Athletics family," Hallberg said. "His knowledge and passion for equipment services make him a perfect fit within our Equipment Services Department."
After serving as a student intern for Purdue's football team for the 2012 season, Finzel shifted into the equipment staff. He spent the next three seasons as a student equipment manager for the Boilermakers before serving as the head student equipment manager for the 2016 season. As head manager, Finzel supervised 13 student managers and five student volunteer managers, dividing the tasks of his department throughout practices and games over the season.
In addition to his duties with Purdue's equipment staff, Finzel also involved himself in the university's Health and Kinesiology Club. The group would plan events focused on increasing activity and wellness in the West Lafayette community and volunteering with home schooled children in the area.
A member of the Athletic Equipment Manager Association and America Football Coaches Association, Finzel graduated from Purdue in 2017 with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education and Health.
