Haffey's performance at the plate has been on the upswing of late and last week was no exception as he recorded three multi-hit games. The redshirt junior first baseman racked up a team-high .400 batting average and slugged .700 in five starts. He also tallied four runs scored and six runs batted in. The Birmingham, Mich., native doubled his home run total with two more this past week and currently leads the team with four on the season.
This is the first time this season and in his career that Haffey has been named Miami's Male Athlete of the Week.
Bechtel began her day by turning in a time of 55.99 in the 400m to pick up her first outdoor victory in her first outdoor race. Tasting victory, she went on to set a lifetime PR in the 200m with a time of 24.73. To round off the day, she joined Miami's 4x400m relay team and led them to a first-place finish.
This is the first time this season and in her career that Bechtel has been named Miami's Female Athlete of the Week. The next Miami Athletes of the Week will be announced on Monday, April 10.
