April 25, 2017 OXFORD, Ohio – Miami University Director of Strength and Conditioning James Carsey announced the hiring of Nate Rock as an assistant strength and conditioning coach.
Rock comes to Oxford after serving in the same capacity at Northern Michigan. While in Marquette, Rock worked with the Wildcats’ football and soccer programs. He helped plan and implement offseason conditioning programs for the football team while also implementing the soccer, lacrosse and golf team’s strength and speed programs.
"We are excited to have Nate join our staff,” Carsey said. “Growing up the son of a former MAC Football coach (Brian Rock), along with working at Kent State, he has the right perspective on the commitment needed to improve our student-athletes’ development. We are looking forward to seeing the positive investment he will bring to their success."
Prior to his time at NMU, Rock worked in the strength and conditioning program at South Carolina, where he put together programs for injured and walk-on student-athletes for the Gamecocks’ football team. He also worked with the throwers on the track and field program while also working with USC’s baseball program.
As an undergraduate at Kent State, Rock worked extensively as a student assistant for the Golden Flashes’ strength and conditioning staff. He helped plan and implement strength and speed programs for KSU’s football, baseball, softball, soccer, field hockey and track and field programs.
A USA Weightlifting Level 1 Sports Performance Coach, Rock earned his Bachelor of Science in Physical Activity and Sports Performance with a minor in athletic coaching from Kent State in 2016.
