RedHawk Men Head to MAC Championships

OXFORD, Ohio -- Miami University's men's swimming and diving team travels to Southern Illinois University's Dr. Edward J. Shea Natatorium in Carbondale, Ill. to compete in the 2016-17 Mid-American Conference Championships.
The four-day competition kicks off Wednesday, March 1, and concludes Saturday, March 4. The 200-yard medley relay and 800-yard freestyle relay will take place on Wednesday. The remaining days will begin with preliminaries at 11 a.m. and finals at 7 p.m.
Miami was chosen to finish fourth by the league office in a poll of MAC coaches at the beginning of the season. Miami finished the season with a 1-2 in MAC competition and 3-5 in overall dual-meet competition. Miami has claimed seven conference titles, with their most recent being in 2006.

Meet the Competition
Ball State- The Cardinals are coming off their loss against Miami when the two teams met recently in the Nixon Aquatic Center. The Cardinals wrapped up their season with a 4-5 record in overall competition and 1-2 record in the conference.
Buffalo- The Bulls snapped Eastern Michigan's 72-MAC dual win streak dating back to the 1997-98 season in late January. Buffalo is 5-1 in dual meets and 2-0 in the MAC.
Eastern Michigan- The Eagles come in as the favorite to win the MAC Championship. They have posted a 5-3 dual meet record on the year, as well as a 2-1 record in the conference.
Evansville- The Purple Aces just finished up their season, ending up 3-5 in dual meets. Against the MAC, they were 0-4, with two of the losses coming at the hands of Southern Illinois.
Missouri State- The Bears are predicted to finish third in the conference and completed the regular season with a 5-3 dual meet record. They were 2-0 in the MAC with wins over Evansville and Southern Illinois.
Southern Illinois- The Salukis finished their season with a 4-1 dual meet record, including two conference wins over Evansville and a loss to Missouri State.
