RedHawk Women Compete at Ohio State Invitational

COLUMBUS, Ohio ÃÆ'Æ'¢ÃÆ'¢'¬" Miami University's swimming and diving team sent a portion of the women's team to the Ohio State Invitational on Saturday and Sunday.
Macey Neubauer placed second in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:02.50) with Brianna Alexander coming in ninth (1:06.80) and Sarah Heaven in 11th (1:08.11). The trio also competed in the 200-yard breaststroke. Neubauer took fifth (2:21.34), Alexander took sixth (2:22.46) and Heaven placed ninth (2:31.48). Neubauer placed seventh in the 200-yard IM (2:08.12) and Heaven took 13th (2:16.80).
Rachel Baker and Maureen Sullivan placed in the 100-yard backstroke and 200-yard backstroke. In the 100 back, Baker placed tenth (57.95) and Sullivan took 11th (56.70). Baker took sixth in the 200 back (2:04.01) while Sullivan placed tenth (2:07.01).
Sarah Wolanske placed sixth in the 1650-yard freestyle, clocking in at 17:22.95. She also took seventh in the 500-yard freestyle, touching the wall in 5:01.86. Gabi D'Abato placed tenth in the event, timing in at 5:14.46. Wolanske also placed tenth in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:56.63. D'Abato finished in 20th, touching the wall in 2:00.46.
Abbey Esler placed 12th in the 100-yard butterfly, touching the wall in 1:00.27. She also took 17th in the 50-yard freestyle, clocking in at 24.24.
Up next for Miami is the Mid-American Conference Championships. The women will compete on Feb. 22-25 and the men on March 1-4.
