
Miami Hosts 24th Annual Miami Invitational

OXFORD, Ohio - The Miami University swimming and diving team hosts the 24th annual Miami Invitational this Thursday through Saturday. The RedHawks host Ball State, Denison, Emory, University of Wisconsin in Milwaukee and Washington University in St. Louis.
Each morning there will be preliminaries and each evening there will be finals in the same events.
On Thursday, the preliminaries begin at 10 a.m. The events include the 200 Free Relay, 500 Freestyle, 200 IM, 50 Freestyle and 400 Medley Relay. The finals in these events will begin at 6 p.m.
On Friday, the preliminaries begin at 10 a.m. The events include the 200 Medley Relay, 400 IM, 100 Butterfly, 200 Freestyle, 100 Breastroke, 100 Backstroke and 800 Freestyle Relay. The finals in these events will begin at 6 p.m.
On Saturday, the preliminaries begin at 9 a.m. The events include the 200 Backstroke, 100 Freestyle, 200 Breastroke, 200 Butterfly, 400 Freestyle Relay and 1650 Freestyle. The finals in these events will begin at 4:30 p.m.
The Miami women are 2-2 and the Miami men are 0-2 on the season. Both the women and men have had a couple weeks off from competition, last competing at Michigan State on Nov. 11. The women won 160-140 and the men fell by a 180-118 margin.
In the previous two meets (against Bowling Green and at Michigan State), nine women have recorded at least one individual win. Sophomore Izzy Herb leads the swimmers with five wins in these two meets, specializing in 200 Backstroke and 200 Butterfly. Red-shirt senior Pei Lin leads the divers, having swept every meet so far this season. Lin's high scores for the season are 370.20 in the 3-mtr dive and 330.52 in the 1-mtr.
Four men recorded an individual win against Michigan State in the men's last meet. Harrison Moncino swept the diving events with his 3-mtr score of 313.35 and his 1-mtr score of 283.28. Iago Amaral do Moussalem, Justin Andrews and Gordon Wheeler also tallied wins against Michigan State in the 100 Butterfly, 200 IM and 200 Freestyle.
OPPONENT PREVIEW
Ball State (Women) - The Cardinals are 3-1 in dual meets this season, beating Illinois State, Tiffin and Grand Valley State. At the Indian Intercollegiate, the Ball State women finished first out of six teams.
Denison (Women) - The Big Red are 1-2 in duel meets this season, the win coming against Xavier. The Denison women also competed at Ohio State against both Ohio State and Akron, falling to both teams.
Denison (Men) - The Denison men are 2-2 in duel meets this season, beating Xavier and Kenyon.
Emory (Women) - The Emory women are 1-1 in duel meets this season, winning against Birmingham Southern. The Eagles also won the Emory Invitational, hosting Wingate University, Catawba College, Lenoir Rhyne University, Limestone Swimming and Georgia Southern.
Emory (Men) - The Eagles' men have the same record as the women, also beating Birmingham Southern. The Emory men won the Emory Invitational, hosting the same teams as the women except Georgia Southern.
University of Wisconsin in Milwaukee (Women) - The Milwaukee women are 4-1 in duel meets this season, beating Grand Valley State, Valparaiso, Wright State and Wheaton.
University of Wisconsin in Milwaukee (Men) - The Milwaukee men are 2-3 in duel meets, also winning against Valparaiso and Wheaton.
Washington University in St. Louis (Women) - The WashU women are 1-2 in duel meets this season, beating DePauw. The Bears won the Illinois Wesleyan Invite earlier this month.
Washington University in St. Louis (Men) - The WashU men are undefeated in duel meets this season, posting a 3-0 record with wins against St. Louis, DePauw and Chicago. The men also won the Illinois Wesleyan Invite.
